1956 Fender Stratocaster Number 12079

This is available in metallic poster print (20 x 30 inches) without the watermark and signed by the artist. The 1956 Fender Stratocaster is a prized year for collectors and musicians. Fender only made 7000 of the 1956 Fender Stratocasters and today they are considered rare in whatever form you can find them. This Stratocaster is numbered 12079 and is one of the first Alder body Stratocasters from the first year they were ever made. Fender switched to Alder bodies in mid 1956. The Alder body is part of what contributes to the distinctive sound. Shell pink was a custom color by the Fender Custom Shop and they are even more rare. Custom colors were borrowed from automobiles. Dupont first made the Shell Pink paint in 1956. It first appeared on the Desota. Fender bought the paint from Dupont and also repainted Stratocasters at their owners' request when they were sent to the Custom Shop.

It does have a replacement neck on it (put on it by a previous owner). The original owner was probably a fairly serious guitar player but not a collector. I suspect it received the second coat of pink when the neck was replaced. Even with that, it is a fabulous guitar because it sure didn't hurt the sound. It has perfect sound. I will never sell it, but I will show it through art. It is a cool piece of Leo Fender's legacy. This guitar was made in the Fullerton, CA facility. I became the owner of the guitar in 2010. Because of its' history, the guitar really is a one of a kind - and that's why it's my signature piece. It is the ultimate in sexy Strats. - Laura
