Verve Theme Park?

05 Apr

I am not inclined to want to build that park in New Orleans. In the 3 months I was there, it wasn’t a fit with me.

First I have a dispute with Hibernia Tower and until they refund ALL of my money, I’m not spending a dime in New Orleans. These people really ticked me off.

Second, I am not convinced that there’s a way to engineer that land to keep the water out of the rides. Corrosion is deadly in theme park rides. I said from the beginning that the city needs to tear down the old park and that piece of land should not be used again because of the water problems.

The crime in New Orleans is also a major problem.

I’m not sure I’m going to ever do another park again. I’ve planned two – one for Florida and one for New Orleans. I liked Florida better but there were still substantial risks. I’m just not sure that I want to take those on. So Verve is in an indefinite holding pattern from a project and legal standpoint. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to finish designing the Hotel Plein de Vie (french for full of live, alive and kicking). I had great plans for that Hotel. I wouldn’t take a hotel project off my eventual list.

That’s how I feel about at the moment. It’s my work, my money and my time and if I want to walk away from it – I will. I will not have my investors spend $750 million for something I don’t feel 100% about.

I did update the link so you can see all the work I did last summer The business plan was impressive for all the calculations.

I finally updated the links to the right to reflect the current project – Kaufmann de Suisse.
